Poland will be looking to continue their good form in this year’s FIVB Volleyball Men’s Nations League when they take on Iran in the quarterfinals. In a clash between the European and Middle Eastern countries, Poland have undoubtedly had a better tournament till now in terms of points, wins and losses. However, these two sides have faced each other already in the competition earlier this month when Iran produced a surprise victory over Poland. Hence, the European nation will be keen to enact revenge when the two sides face again in the quarterfinal.
Finishing second with 31 points from 12 matches, Poland have lost just twice all competition and won the remaining 10 games. Infact they finished level on points with table toppers Italy. On the other hand, Iran finished seventh in the table, having accumulated 20 points from 12 games. They won seven and lost five till now. One of those victories was a 3-2 upset win over Poland earlier this month. That result should give the Middle Eastern country the necessary confidence boost to produce another upset when these two sides meet each other.

A fresh new format was enforced for the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Nations League ahead of the 2022 edition. The revised format will feature 16 men’s teams who will compete in pools of 8 teams during the preliminary round. Eight teams will then advance to the competition’s final knockout round. The Finals will include the seven strongest teams, with the finals host — Italy — entering the knockout round as the top-placed team. It will consist of eight matches in total – four quarterfinals, two semi-finals, and bronze and gold medal matches.
