The 2023 edition of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Nations League will be the tournament’s fifth iteration, marking another year in this annual international event for male volleyball teams. Scheduled from June 6 to July 23, 2023, the contest will culminate in a final round hosted at the Ergo Arena in Gdańsk, Poland. This edition will see a shift in the team lineup as following the outcomes of the 2022 Nations League and the 2022 Challenger Cup, Cuba will make their debut, replacing Australia.
The competition will see sixteen teams taking part. Among them, ten are ‘core teams’ – Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Iran, Japan, Poland, Serbia, and the USA – these teams enjoy a secured position and won’t face relegation. The remaining six, including Bulgaria, Canada, China, Cuba, Netherlands, and Slovenia, compete as ‘challenger teams’, with a potential risk of being demoted from the tournament.
Italy will play Argentina on June 6, 2023, (Eastern Daylight Time) or June 7 (Indian Standard Time) at the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Nations League 2023. This will be a clash between two core teams of the tournament. Italy is ranked second on the World rankings, while Argentina is ranked eighth in the world. The last time the two teams faced each other Italy emerged as the better team as they won the match by 3-1. Italy also finished on the top of the table after the completion of the preliminary phase, but ended up fourth in the final stage, while Argentina came in ninth.
