Hyderabad Blackhawks will be eager to maintain their top four status when they take on a struggling Mumbai Meteors. The Black Hawks led by SV Guru Prashanth performed brilliantly in the home leg to get three successive wins. Now they would hope to carry that form forward and seal a top four place. As it happens, Hyderabad Blackhawks have eight points from six games to be placed fourth. They have won four and lost two till now. With form on their side, Blackhawks will enter this game as favourites.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Meteors are going through a bad patch. They have not been able to get a win since their 5-0 drubbing of the Chennai Blitz. In order to stay in the hunt for a the playoffs spot they need to overcome the Hyderabad Blackhawks’ challenge. Mumbai are placed sixth in the table with three points from five matches. Speaking about the match, Hyderabad’s SV Guru Prashanth was quoted as per a release, “Kochi is a good place as there are a lot of fans here for volleyball. We are hoping to have a good game here as well to entertain fans.”
Guru Prashanth is also not worried too much about Mumbai Meteors’ struggles, as he feels it would be a difficult clash for them in the upcoming game. “Mumbai Meteors are also a tough team. They might have lost but they are not easy opponents. They will be fighting for sure. So, we are not going to take it easy. We will see this match as every other game. It’s a crucial game for us because if we win, we will not have to care other results. It is crucial for us to maintain our position in the table,” he stated.

On the other hand, Mumbai Meteors’ star Brandon Greenway spoke about the importance of this game. With his team’s chances of qualifying for the playoffs on the line, Greenway wants to make the most of the match. “With this game our season is on the line. We know we have to beat Hyderabad. We still have a decent chance of playoffs with how tight the league is right now. In our head as a team, every set is important, and every point is important. We cannot make any mistakes. We do not have to just win matches, but now have to win every point,” Brandon explained.
Speaking about his team’s plans for this game, Brandon said, “With Hyderabad coming up, it is a very important match for both of us to have a chance for the playoffs. It will be firing on all cylinders for both teams. We are focusing on our game – and defending the way we want to and maintaining our attack systems. We are also keeping a close eye on Guru and Trent and how we can counter them defensively. We have been putting a lot of work of how we can shut them down.”

The Prime Volleyball League 2023, which is held from February 4 to March 5, will consist of 31 matches. The games commence at 7pm. On the double header days, the second match begins at 9:30pm. The Season 2 will be broadcast exclusively by Sony Sports Network across Sony Sports Ten 1, Sony Sports Ten 3 and Sony Sports Ten 4. It can also be livestreamed on SonyLIV. Besides, the 2nd edition of the PVL will be streamed globally on Volleyball World across all countries (except the Indian Subcontinent).
