The CEV Men’s European Volleyball Championship 2023 is set to kick off on August 28 and conclude on September 16, 2023. The event, supervised by the CEV, will take place across four countries – Italy, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, and Israel. The contest is designed to include 24 squads that will be divided into four different groups. The top three finishers will earn a spot in the FIVB Men’s World Volleyball Championship 2025. Since Italy currently holds the World Champion title, they automatically qualify for the World Championship.

On August 31, 2023, France will take on Portugal in a Pool D preliminary match at the Men’s EuroVolley 2023. The French team advanced to the main stage of the competition through a good outing at the CEV Men’s European Volleyball Championship 2021. On the other hand, Portugal topped the Pool D qualifier stage of the CEV Men’s European Volleyball Championship 2023 and made a place for themselves in the prime draw.
