The fourth edition of the annual FIVB Volleyball Men’s Challenger Cup, which will serve as a qualifying event to the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Nations League is scheduled to take place from July 28 to July 30, 2023. Hosted at the Aspire Ladies Sports Hall in Doha, Qatar, this international volleyball tournament will see eight nations’ teams vie for victory. Of these teams, four will be participating in the Challenger Cup for the first time – China, the Dominican Republic, Thailand, and Ukraine.

The structure of FIVB Volleyball Men’s Challenger Cup 2023 includes a knockout format, consisting of quarterfinals, semifinals, and the grand finale. The host nation, Qatar, will open its quarterfinal campaign against the team ranked lowest, i.e., Thailand, at the Aspire Ladies Sports Hall where a total of 2500 audience can be accommodated. The rest of the teams will be ranked from the 2nd to the 7th place based on the FIVB World Ranking as of July 15, 2023.

In the 2022 edition of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Challenger Cup, Cuba emerged as the champions by prevailing over Turkey in the tournament’s final match. This victory secured Cuba a spot in the 2023 Nations League, effectively replacing Australia, which had ended up in the last position among the challenger teams in the 2022 edition. South Korea managed to clinch the third position by outplaying the Czech Republic in a match which determined the tournament’s third-place finisher.
