The Dominican Republic will hope to continue their impressive form in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2022 when they take on Thailand on Saturday. The Caribbean country will be brimming with confidence after getting the better of tournament co-hosts Poland in their last fixture. Sitting atop Pool B, the Dominican Republic are a team to watch out for in the upcoming fixtures. The Women’s World Championship 2022 which is hosted in the Netherlands and Poland this year will take place from 23rd September to 15th October.
The Dominican Republic began the World Championship 2022 on a positive note, beating South Korea and Croatia by the same 3-0 margin. However, they had to settle for a defeat in the last game when they were beaten by Turkey. But the Caribbean country bounced back in style in their next fixture to overcome co-hosts Poland 3-1. On the other hand, Thailand will also be coming into this match on the back of winning their last clash – a 3-0 triumph over South Korea. In Pool B, Dominican Republic are at the top of the table with ten points from four games, while Thailand are fourth with eight points.

The 24-team tournament will run from September 23 through October 15. The teams are split up into four groups of six teams each, and they compete in a round-robin format. Each pool’s top four teams advance to the second round and the 16 teams are divided into two pools of eight nations. The countries coming from the same first-round pool only play against opponents from a different first-round pool. Each pool’s top four teams compete in a quarterfinal round, with the winners moving on to the semifinals. The World Championship trophy will be up for grabs for the last-four victorious teams, while the third-place match pits the losers against each other.
