Jon Jones‘ long-awaited UFC heavyweight debut is not expected to happen this summer. According to the former UFC light heavyweight champion, he will hold off until former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic is ready, which he expects to be in September. Dana White, the president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, recently stated that a fight between Jones (26-1 MMA, 20-1 UFC) and Miocic (20-4 MMA, 14-4 UFC) would be a good fit for the promotion’s summer schedule.

Jones apparently learned that Miocic will not be ready to participate this summer and expressed his displeasure on social media.

Jones wrote on Twitter, “Stipe is saying that he will be at his absolute peak in September. I’m disappointed but patient, I want the heavyweight goat at his absolute best. I’ll wait until September. No excuses.”

It’d be interesting to see what Miocic have in mind when going against Bones. As, Jones is aiming to get into heavyweight it will be very interesting to speculate what will happen when these two monsters go against each other.

Jones, 34, last competed in the octagon in February 2020, when he successfully defended his light heavyweight championship against Dominick Reyes at UFC 247. Jones has teased a move to the heavyweight class since then, and has been packing on pounds of muscle in anticipation for the change.

Miocic, 39, hasn’t fought since losing his heavyweight championship to Francis Ngannou in a rematch at UFC 260 in March 2021. After his wife gave birth to their second child, Miocic was not in a hurry to return to action.
