UFC Paris delivered an action-packed heavyweight showdown as former interim champion Ciryl Gane squared off against seventh-ranked Sergei Spivak in the headlining bout. The match had significant implications for the heavyweight rankings, with Spivak riding a three-fight winning streak and Gane looking to rebound from a loss to champion Jon Jones.

From the opening bell, Gane showcased his striking prowess utilizing his jab to keep Spivak at bay. Spivak attempted to respond with leg kicks but Gane’s footwork and stance-switching made it difficult for Spivak to find his rhythm.

Gane’s striking clinic continued as he peppered Spivak with leg kicks and body shots. Spivak eager to close the distance attempted to take the fight to the ground but was met with resistance from Gane. Gane not only defended the takedown but also gained top position showcasing his well-rounded skills.

Throughout the first round, Gane’s jab remained a potent weapon connecting with precision. Spivak managed to land a right hand but it was Gane who dictated the pace and controlled the octagon.

As the second round commenced, Gane’s dominance continued. He maintained his jab and continued to punish Spivak with leg kicks. A knee strike from Gane found its mark as he displayed his striking versatility. Spivak attempted to close the distance but Gane circled away refusing to be cornered.

Gane’s right hand proved to be a game-changer as he unleashed a barrage of punches with Spivak pressed against the cage. The relentless assault left Spivak with no choice but to cover up in an attempt to weather the storm. Gane continued his assault landing right hands until the referee stepped in to stop the fight.

The official time of the stoppage was 3:44 of the second round, declaring Ciryl Gane the winner by TKO.
