A thrilling women’s flyweight bout headlined the co-feature at Accor Arena in Paris as Manon Fiorot faced off against former strawweight title challenger Rose Namajunas. Fiorot emerged victorious in a closely contested fight earning a unanimous decision win.
From the opening round, Namajunas displayed her striking prowess with low kicks targeting Fiorot’s legs. Fiorot is known for her striking skills and responded with well-placed shots while ensuring she evaded counterattacks. Namajunas attempted a takedown, but Fiorot’s defensive skills were on full display as she effortlessly defended the attempt. Fiorot showcased her striking ability with a solid combination before the end of the round.
In the second round, Fiorot opened with a powerful right hand, prompting a swift response from Namajunas. A slip by Namajunas allowed Fiorot to capitalize by pinning her against the cage and attempting a takedown. While Namajunas thwarted the takedown, Fiorot managed to land a combination upon separation. Namajunas answered with a straight left that pushed Fiorot back. Fiorot experienced a slip of her own allowing Namajunas to seize an opportunity to take her back, but Fiorot broke free. A clash of heads caused a significant cut on Fiorot’s head leading to a spirited exchange of punches before the round concluded.
As Round 3 commenced, Namajunas continued to pursue takedowns, but Fiorot’s defensive prowess remained steadfast. Although Namajunas briefly secured a takedown, she struggled to maintain control. Namajunas began to find her rhythm landing substantial strikes. Both fighters exchanged head kicks as Fiorot pressed forward with a combination. In the closing moments of the round, Namajunas appeared to stagger Fiorot finishing the fight on a strong note although it was not enough to secure the win.
Following her impressive victory, Fiorot wasted no time in calling for a title shot against the winner of the upcoming title fight rematch between champion Alexa Grasso and Valentina Shevchenko. The highly anticipated championship bout is set to headline Noche UFC on September 16.
