The UFC 293 pre-fight press conference in Australia took an unexpected turn when a heated altercation broke out between two fighterswho weren’t even scheduled to face each other. Middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and flyweight contender Manel Kape engaged in a fiery exchange that had fans and fellow fighters on the edge of their seats.

The incident began when Kape was asked about his upcoming bout against Felipe dos Santos. A match that materialized on short notice due to Kai Kara-France’s withdrawal from the card because of a concussion sustained during training camp. Despite not being on the fight card, Kara-France was present at the press conference to support his teammates from City Kickboxing.

Kape didn’t hesitate to direct his frustration towards Kara-France calling him out in a fiery rant. He labeled Kara-France with derogatory terms and accused him of cowardice for pulling out of their potential matchup. Kape expressed his disappointment that Kara-France had three weeks to fight him but chose not to.

The tension escalated rapidly when Kape noticed Kara-France sitting just a few feet away. He launched a verbal barrage at Kara-France challenging his courage and integrity. The exchange quickly became hostile with Kape demanding that Kara-France stand up to face him.

Adesanya who was seated one spot away from Kape stood up to confront the flyweight contender. This sudden escalation placed UFC heavyweight Tai Tuivasa in the middle of the heated exchange trying to maintain order.

Adesanya shouted back at Kape belittling him for attempting to challenge the middleweight champion. Security personnel intervened and rushed to the stage to separate the fighters before the situation escalated further.

Despite the commotion, Sean Strickland, Adesanya’s opponent for UFC 293 surprisingly emerged as the voice of reason. He urged Adesanya to calm down and refrain from engaging further with Kape emphasizing that it wasn’t their scheduled fight.

As cooler heads prevailed, the press conference eventually resumed but Kape couldn’t resist addressing Kara-France once more when asked about their potential future matchup. Kape expressed his desire to face Kara-France in the future accusing him of “running away” and questioning his championship mentality for pulling out of their fight due to injury.

Before facing off with Dos Santos after the press conference concluded. Kape delivered one final insult to Kara-France by raising a middle finger in his direction as he made his way to the stage for the staredown with his opponent.
