On Wednesday, Maryna Zanevska will compete in the 2022 WTA Hamburg Open's second round against Alexandra Cadantu-Ignatik.
The seventh seed In the opening match in Hamburg, Maryna Zanevska defeated Viktoriya Tomova 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. This victory, which moves the 28-year-old Belgian up to World No. 72, is his first on the circuit since the Strasbourg Open in May. (where she was a quarterfinalist). Maryna has then gone on to drop five straight matches at the French Open, Bett1Open, Eastbourne International, and Wimbledon. She lost her opening match in the hard-court competitions in Australia, the Middle East, and the United States, and the first half of her season has been marked by similar, boring periods. Zanevska did manage a few victories, most notably in the Saint-Malo Challenger, when she advanced to the semifinals, on clay courts.
Ranked 172 in the world, In Hamburg’s first round, Alexandra Cadantu-Ignatik had to work hard to defeat Nao Hibino by scores of 6-3, 2-6, and 6-2. She had to advance over Ella Seidel and Anna-Lena Friedsam in the preliminary round in order to move on to the main round after beginning as a qualifier. The former World No. 59 has experienced a sort of comeback in 2022; as of Wednesday, she was 27-14 and has appeared in three ITF finals. She was a finalist in the ITF Orlando in April, which was her most recent accomplishment on the circuit. This season, Cadantu-Ignatik has spent the majority of her time competing in low-level competitions. She hasn’t done well at major competitions because she lost in the opening/qualifying matches.
