On Wednesday, the second round of the 2022 ATP Hamburg Open will feature a match between fourth seed Pablo Carreno Busta of Spain and Alex Molcan of Slovakia.
Last year, Pablo Carreno Busta won in Hamburg, which marked the beginning of a successful run for him. A week later, he was competing in the Olympics for Spain, where he was able to win a bronze medal. He is currently attempting to defend his Hamburg championship and is in decent shape. With a 22-16 record and an 11-8 mark on clay, he is having a passable year. Carreno Busta has had fantastic moments on clay this year, along with some less impressive ones. He plays the surface brilliantly. He was handily defeated by Francisco Cerundolo in the quarterfinal last week in Bastad. The Argentine crushed him 6-3, 6-2, but Pablo recovered admirably and won his opening round match in Hamburg. It was a victory over qualifier Luca Nardi, who lost 6-2, 6-1 with ease.
Since the Slovakian player no longer has to compete in qualifying to enter the top events, Alex Molcan is currently enjoying life on the tour. His breakthrough came the previous year, when he established himself as a very reliable player across the board. Although Clay is the greatest, he can also perform well on hard courts. With a 23-17 record overall and a 14-8 mark on clay, the year is fairly strong. Molcan plays aggressive tennis and can be very challenging for rivals with his left hand. He can be a little streaky, which is amazing when it works but bad when it doesn’t. Molcan is a fierce warrior who rarely gives up. He is listed in the top 50 because of all of those admirable traits. Although it’s unknown how far his talent can go him, Marian Vajda, Djokovic’s coach, is helping him, so maybe he’ll improve even more.
Pablo Carreno Busta and Alex Molcan will take on each other on Wednesday, July 20 in the second round of the 2022 ATP Hamburg European open. The competition is scheduled to commence on July 18 and conclude on July 24 this year.
