While Anastasia Zakharova has yet to win a WTA main draw match in her career, she appears to have made a name for herself on the ITF circuit with her performances. As a result, in recent years, the Russian has tried her hand at making it through to the main draw of WTA events. In fact, Zakharova has appeared in the qualifiers of five such events since the last week of August, and this week, for the second time, she has made the main draw. She had previously qualified for the Slovenia Open, but lost her first round match to Tamara Zidansek. Zakharova had previously advanced to the third qualifying round of the US Open, and a few more withdrawals might have allowed her to advance.
She was once ranked 54th in the world, but Blinkova’s form has deteriorated so dramatically that it’s no surprise she’s now ranked 138th and struggling to win main draw WTA tournaments. Blinkova recently won an opening round match in Seoul, but she hasn’t done anything noteworthy in the main draw of the six other WTA tournaments surrounding the Korea Open. This comes as a surprise given Blinkova’s performance earlier this season in a WTA 125 event in Saint Malo, where she reached the final. She is the early favorite, but she will be wary of her fellow Russian, who has shown enough grit to challenge some of the top players.

The WTA Transylvania Open 2022 will have five rounds of action excluding the qualifiers. These are the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The competition’s main draw is set to commence on October 10, 2022 and conclude on October 16, 2022.
