Aslan Karatsev and Tallon Griekspoor will take on each other in the round of 32 of the 2022 ATP Firenze Open on Monday, October 10.
Aslan Karatsev lost in three sets against the relatively inexperienced Zhizhen Zhang in the ATP Astana first round last week, marking his 26th loss of the season (in 41 games) and fifth straight defeat. The 29-year-old Russian’s victory in a Moscow indoor competition last October was essential in helping him win the Most Improved Player of the Year honour. He has only performed admirably in one of the last 10 games and for the bulk of the 2022 season, so if his performance this month doesn’t improve, he could fall outside the top 50.
On the main tour, Tallon Griekspoor has also participated in exactly six indoor hard court matches this year, losing five of them. Though he defeated Vasek Pospisil in Tel Aviv and Alexander Bublik in Astana, his performance in recent encounters was noticeably improved. Although the Dutchman had several terrible weeks on the main tour this year, this was a great season overall, and he would be generally happy with his performance and outcomes. In these ten months, he advanced to the quarterfinals on all three surfaces, and a few months ago, he entered the top 50.
Aslan Karatsev and Tallon Griekspoor are scheduled to face each other in the round of 32 of the 2022 ATP Firenze Open on Monday, October 10. The tournament is scheduled to begin on October 10 and end on October 16.
The ATP Firenze Open will have five rounds of action excluding the qualifiers. These are the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The competition’s main draw is set to commence on October 10, 2022 and conclude on October 16, 2022.
