JJ Wolf and Mikael Ymer are scheduled to face each other in the semi final of the 2022 ATP Firenze Open on Saturday, October 15.
JJ Wolf needed two hours and 14 minutes, but he was able to secure a semifinal berth for the first time this season. JJ Wolf defeated Alexander Bublik 3-6, 7-5, 6-1, saving three of the four break points he faced in the second set to come out on top in their hard-fought match. Wolf took a 2-0 lead in the second set after losing the first to the only break-point he faced, only to drop his serve in the seventh game. However, he stormed back into the match with a late break of serve as Bublik served to keep the set alive. The third set was much easier for the 75th-ranked player, who won it off his fourth match-point after clinching two more breaks.
After advancing through the qualifiers to the main draw, Mikael Ymer easily defeated Roberto Carballes Baena in his quarterfinal to record his third consecutive win and advance to the semifinal. The Swede, who will face Wolf in the ATP final for the second time in his career, was on court for an hour and 34 minutes to defeat his Spanish opponent. In a first set in which both players were broken twice, Ymer stole the show with a break in the 10th game as Carballes Baena served to stay in the set. He then went 3-0 up and won the match with a break in the eighth game of the second set.
