Viktoriya Konstantinova Tomova, a professional tennis player from Bulgaria, was born on February 25, 1995. Tomova achieved a career-high WTA singles ranking of 89 on October 31, 2022. Her best doubles ranking, which she obtained on August 11, 2014, was 254th in the world. She is currently ranked number one in Bulgaria for singles. She competes for the Bulgarian Fed Cup team as well, where her win-loss record is 12-11. In July 2016, Tomova competed in the biggest final of her career before losing to fellow Bulgarian Elitsa Kostova in the Hungarian Ladies Open.

Tomova made her second main draw appearance at this major after qualifying for the Australian Open, however, she was defeated by eventual first-time quarterfinalist Alizé Cornet. She attained a career-high rating of No. 103 on February 28, 2022. At the Indian Wells Open, she made her main-draw debut after defeating Astra Sharma in qualifying. She made her debut as a fortunate loser in the French Open as well, completing the set of main-draw appearances in all four Grand Slam competitions. Nonetheless, she was defeated in the opening round by world No. 9 Danielle Collins. At the Open de Valencia, she advanced to the quarterfinals for a second consecutive year by defeating world No. 69 and second seed Varvara Gracheva en route. Nevertheless, she was ultimately defeated by Wang Xiyu in three close sets.

She took Ons Jabeur’s place as a lucky loser in the WTA 500 Eastbourne International. She received a bye into the second round, then beat Shelby Rogers, the world’s No. 37, to proceed to her first WTA 500 quarterfinal, defeating Kirsten Flipkens and avenging her defeat in the final round of qualification. At Wimbledon, she defeated wildcard Daria Gavrilova to get to the second round for the second time before falling to world No. 5 Maria Sakkari. She competed in a Major doubles event for the first time at the same competition, teaming up with Elisabetta Cocciaretto; they advanced to the second round.

She defeated Pek Z to go to the quarterfinals at the Swedish Open. By overcoming former top-20 player Mihaela Buzarnescu in the semifinal, she advanced one step further. There, she was defeated by Jang Su-jeong, the eventual champion. As a result, on July 11, 2022, she attained a new career-high single ranking of 101.
