Tennis player Shelby Rogers was born in the United States on October 13, 1992. In August 2022 and February 2022, she achieved career high WTA singles rankings of 30 and 40, respectively. On the ITF Women’s Circuit, she has also won two doubles titles and six singles titles. She won the national title for girls when she was 17 years old. Her best professional performances took place in the 2016 French Open and 2020 US Open quarterfinals. At the 2021 US Open and the 2017 Australian Open, Rogers defeated top-ranked opponents Ashleigh Barty (No. 1) and Simona Halep (No. 4), respectively. She also defeated Serena Williams (No. 9) at the 2020 Top Seed Open. With victories at the 2020 US Open, in which she saved four match points, and the 2016 French Open, Rogers is also unbeaten against Petra Kvitová, a two-time Wimbledon champion. She only reached the quarterfinals of a big tournament twice in her career, as well.

Progress

After enduring a knee problem for some time, Rogers underwent knee surgery in May 2018. She only participated in the Australian Open and Indian Wells competitions beginning in 2018, losing in the opening round of both. For the rest of the season, she was unable to play. She made a comeback in the Charleston Open in April 2019, where she won her first match by defeating Evgeniya Rodina in straight sets.  In the summer of 2020, she ran a successful campaign on American hardcourts. After defeating Serena Williams in the previous round of the Top Seed Open, she advanced to the semifinals.Later, at the US Open, she defeated Madison Brengle, sixth seed Petra Kvitova, Irina Khromacheva, and 11th seed Elena Rybakina before falling to Naomi Osaka in the quarterfinals. She then climbed back into the top 60 rankings.

2022 Journey

After losing to third-seeded and world No. 6 Maria Sakkari to advance to the quarterfinals of the Adelaide International on January 10, 2022, she set a new career high in singles rankings by moving up to No. 36. She and Petra Marti advanced to the Australian Open quarterfinals in doubles. After the competition, on February 28, 2022, she climbed to a new career-high position in the top 40. Around this period, she hired Piotr Sierzputowski, a former coach of Iga Swiatek. She defeated the No. 9 seed at the French Open, Danielle Collins, to get to the third round for the third time in her career before falling to Daria Kasatkina, the 20th seed. She defeated Kirsten Flipkens to get to the semifinals of the Libéma Open. She was defeated by Aryna Sabalenka, the top seed. At the Silicon Valley Classic, she defeated Bianca Andreescu, top seed Maria Sakkari once more (her third top-5 career win), and Amanda Anisimova to go to the semifinals. In the three matches, she only dropped 18 games and did not drop a set. After defeating Veronika Kudermetova in straight sets, she advanced to her third career final and first WTA 500 match. In the final, she was defeated by seventh-seeded Daria Kasatkina. As a result, on August 8, 2022, she entered the top 30 in the singles chart.

Rogers, who was born in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, started playing tennis at the age of six by imitating her sister Sabra. Her inherent athletic talent was rapidly recognised by her coaches, and by the time she was eleven, she was competing on a national level. While attending high school at home, Rogers was free to concentrate on her tennis and soon began to receive scholarship offers from the best colleges in the United States. Shelby was conceived by Starley Gabrish, her mother, and an unidentified father. It appears as though her mother remarried, despite the fact that she has not yet disclosed anything about her birth father. The tennis player may have been a young child when her mother, Starley, fell in love and got married.
