On August 2, 1994, Brazilian-born tennis pro Laura Pigossi Herrmann de Andrade was born. She won a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics alongside Luisa Stefani. Pigossi has won seven singles titles and 41 doubles titles on the ITF Circuit. On August 29, 2022, after winning her first WTA Tour final at the Copa Colsanitas, she rose to her highest singles ranking of 100. Bronze medal in Olympic

Pigossi won the bronze medal in the doubles competition at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. In order to earn the bronze medal, she collaborated with Luisa Stefani to overcome Veronika Kudermetova and the gold-medal winner Elena Vesnina. Pigossi and Stefani beat Fernando Meligeni’s 1996 campaign, which finished in fourth place, to become the first Brazilians in tennis history to win an Olympic medal.
