Australian tennis professional Jason Murray Kubler was born on May 19, 1993. On January 9, 2023, he reached his highest singles rating of 86, and on September 26, 2022, he reached his highest doubles ranking of 152. Despite having a strong junior career that included the junior world No. 1 position and comparisons to Rafael Nadal, Kubler has spent the majority of his professional career on the weaker circuits due to a congenital knee condition that causes thinning meniscus surrounding the joints. Due to the disease, which has affected Kubler his whole career, he has had six knee surgery. Additionally, Kubler played only on clay courts for the first four years of his professional career to prevent further structural damage to his knees. Along with Rafael Nadal, Kubler was the only player to go undefeated through the World Youth Cup and Junior Davis Cup in 2009. Kubler’s junior ranking climbed to No. 3 after his performance at the Junior Davis Cup, which was followed by his winning five straight championships. He lost against Andrey Kuznetsov in the second set of the Nur-Sultan II Challenger final in July after retiring early. After defeating Alejandro Tabilo in three sets the following week at the Lexington Challenger, Kubler earned his sixth Challenger championship overall.

Tomas Martin Etcheverry defeated Kubler in the second round, preventing him from meeting the requirements to play in the 2022 Australian Open. To compete in the doubles and mixed doubles events with fellow citizens Christopher O’Connell and Jaimee Fourlis, Kubler did get two wildcards. Kubler and O’Connell made it to the third round before exiting the competition. Kubler and Fourlis, the fifth-seeded combination in the mixed doubles tournament, had a great run to the final and were striving to become the first all-Australian team to win the championship since 2013, but they were ultimately defeated by Kristina Mladenovic and Ivan Dodig. His first match in the main draw since 2018, Kubler defeated Mikael Ymer in the first round of the US Open. The match lasted four sets. Frances Tiafoe, the 22nd-seeded American and eventual semifinalist, defeated Kubler in straight sets in the second round. Kubler and fellow Australian Luke Saville advanced to the ATP doubles championship match at the San Diego Open in September. The American team of Jackson Withrow and Nathaniel Lammons defeated them in the championship match in straight sets. The 2022 season saw Kubler finish No. 107 in the world, which was a career-best position.
