The Dutchman commenced his Wimbledon campaign with a win over Argentina's Federico Delbonis in the first round by a score of 7-6 (9-7), 6-1, 6-2.
Dutch tennis player Tim van Rijthoven has had quite an impressive grass season so far. Ahead of Wimbledon, van Rijthoven won the ATP crown at Hertogenbosch after beating top seed Daniil Medvedev in the final. The Dutchman commenced his Wimbledon campaign with a win over Argentina’s Federico Delbonis in the first round by a score of 7-6 (9-7), 6-1, 6-2. He then followed it up with an impressive win over 15th seed Reilly Opelka in a thriller that ended 6-4, 6-7 (8-10), 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (7-4). Van Rijthoven scored 15 aces in the match and won one out of six break points.
Although it has been a winning start to the 2022 Championships for Basilashvili, things have been far from simple. In the first round, the Georgian beat Lukas Rosol in a five-setter that ended 6-7 (4-7), 7-6 (8-6), 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. The second round saw Basilashvili go up against Quentin Halys with the former emerging victorious by a scoreline of 7-6 (9-7), 0-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-5). The 22nd seed scored two aces in that contest and converted one out of two break points.
Van Rijthoven and Basilashvili are scheduled to face each other on Friday, July 1 in the third round of the 2022 Championships. The timing of the match has not been decided yet. The Championships is scheduled to begin on June 27 and go on until July 10. There were a number of exciting matches on July 1 as the likes of Djokovic, Sinner, Alcaraz and others will be in action.
