Norrie and Johnson are scheduled to face each other on Friday, July 1 in the third round of the 2022 Championships.
After a five-set thriller against Jaume Munar, Cameron Norrie has made it through to the third round of the 2022 Wimbledon competition. The score at the end of the match was 6-3, 3-6, 5-7, 6-0, 6-2 in the Brit’s favour. Norrie played fine tennis throughout the contest, hitting seven aces and winning nine out of 15 break points. The Brit had faced another Spaniard in Pablo Andujar in the first round and had come out victorious by a score of 6-0, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3.
After being handed a win in the first round, American tennis player Steve Johnson rose to the occasion in the second and will see himself in the third. Johnson beat Ryan Peniston in the second round by a scoreline of 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 to advance. In the first round, Johnson did have a tough opponent in Grigor Dimitrov but the Bulgarian had to withdraw due to an injury.
Norrie and Johnson are scheduled to face each other on Friday, July 1 in the third round of the 2022 Championships. The timing of the match has not been decided yet. The Championships is scheduled to begin on June 27 and go on until July 10. There were a number of exciting matches on July 1 as the likes of Jabeur, Sakkari, Ostapenko and others will be in action.
