After impressing at the Swedish Open and the Swiss Open, Dominic Thiem can shift his focus to his home ATP 250 competition, the Generali Open. At the Swedish Open, Thiem went as far as the quarter-final, defeating the likes of Emil Ruusuvuori and fourth seed Robert Bautista Agut before losing to Sebastian Baez in the quarter-final. In Gstaad, the 28-year-old reached the semi-final where he was knocked out by second seed Matteo Berrettini. Thiem will go up against Russian player Alexander Shevchenko in the first round at Kitzbuhel.
Shevchenko had to make it through to the main draw of the Austrian Open the hard way, winning both of his qualifying matches. The Russian was seeded fifth in the qualifiers where he beat the likes of Lukas Klein and Vit Kopriva. Shevchenko was a part of the recently concluded German Open but was beaten in the qualifiers.
Aslan Karatsev and Dusan Lajovic will take on each other on Tuesday, July 26 in the round of 32 of the 2022 Generali Open. The tournament is scheduled to begin on July 25 and conclude on July 31 this year.
