In the opening round of ATP Antwerp, Dominic Thiem defeated Michael Geerts with ease. He completed the feat in just 71 minutes, losing only four games over the course of two sets (6-4, 6-0). In less than two weeks, the former world #3 has now delivered a bagel three times. In Gijon (last week), where he defeated Francisco Cerundolo in the quarterfinal, he won 6-0 sets against Joao Sousa and Marcos Giron in the early going.

This week, Francisco Cerundolo defeated Marc-Andrea Huesler, the ATP Sofia champion from last month, in three sets. He had trouble in the first two sets and fell behind by a set and a break, but he played brilliantly to stay in the match and won the third set, 5-7 7-6 6-3. In his first full season on the main circuit in 2022, the Argentinian teenager has made an impression on all court types, and he is now one victory away from reaching his maiden quarterfinal on an indoor hard court. Last week in Gijon, where he picked up his maiden victory on a surface only, he fell to Dominic Thiem in his second match of the year.
