Jannik Sinner and Adrian Mannarino are scheduled to face one another in the round of 32 of the 2022 Canadian Open on Wednesday, August 10.
Sinner chose to compete on the clay courts of Umag after a strong showing at Wimbledon, where he nearly beat Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals. Sinner breezed through to the final, where he faced Carlos Alcaraz, the 3/5 favorite and the most recent toast of men’s tennis. Alacaraz got off to a good start with a first-set win, but Sinner came back to easily win the next two sets and the title. Sinner would now like to start things off on the hard courts of Canada with a bang in order to prepare for the season’s final Grand Slam.
Adrian Mannarino had previously needed two qualifying victories to advance to the main draw of this competition, and he maintained that form against fellow French qualifier Arthur Rinderknech as well. In an hour and 18 minutes, the world number 70 defeated Rinderknech 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the second round, where he will face the in-form Jannik Sinner. Mannarino had competed in both the Atlanta Open and the Washington Open and had done well in both. At the former, he made the main draw as a lucky loser but was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Alex de Minaur. Then, in Washington, he lost in the second round of that tournament to Grigor Dimitrov.
Jannik Sinner and Adrian Mannarino are scheduled to face one another in the round of 32 of the 2022 Canadian Open on Wednesday, August 10. The tournament is scheduled to run from August 8 till August 15.
The 2022 edition of the Canadian Open is set to begin from August 8 and go on until August 15. The men’s final is scheduled to be on August 15 and the women’s one is set to be held on August 14. There will be six rounds of play in the main draw excluding the qualifiers.
