Jannik Sinner and Jaume Munar will take on each other on Wednesday July 27 in the second round of the 2022 Croatia open.
Jannik Sinner had a chance to send then-20-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic packing from Wimbledon when he last visited the court. Sinner suddenly surrendered after leading two sets to love, giving Djokovic a five-set victory. He hasn’t competed since then, but he returns to the second round today in Umag after receiving a bye in round one. Jannik Sinner, who has excelled on both clay and hard court surfaces in his career, would like to do much better on the red dirt surface, where he has yet to win a title. He has won five ATP tournaments on both indoor and outdoor hard court surfaces.
There has never been a previous match between Sinner and Munar. Jaume Munar was a huge favorite in his first round match against Mikael Ymer, but Munar had to work hard to advance to the second round. The Spaniard fought back from a set down to defeat his Swedish opponent 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 and set up a match with Sinner. Munar won the match in two hours and 36 minutes by ensuring a high proportion of first serve points on his serve (76 percent) and overcoming the three serve breaks he needed to overcome in the opening set.
Jannik Sinner and Jaume Munar will take on each other on Wednesday July 27 in the second round of the 2022 Croatia open. The competition is scheduled to commence on July 25 and conclude on July 31 this year.
