On thursday, in the round of 16 of the WTA Slovenia open Katerina Siniakova of Czech will face Jodie Burrage of United Kingdom.
After a successful conclusion to her visit to Flushing Meadows on Sunday, Katerina Siniakova received permission to launch her Portoroz campaign later than planned. She faced Martina Trevisan, a semifinalist at Roland-Garros, having dropped 12 of her previous 14 matches against players ranked in the top 30, but she defeated the fourth seed 6-1, 6-4. Her greatest WTA singles performance in 2022 was a solitary quarterfinal showing in Hamburg. In stark contrast, she has regained the top spot in doubles after winning the US Open, Australian Open, and Wimbledon with Barbora Krejcikova to complete the Grand Slam.
Jodie Burrage advanced straight to round two after crushing Aleksandra Krunic 6-4, 6-4 and winning 81% of her first serves in the process. Compared to the final qualifying match against Stefanie Voegele, where she repeatedly came within two points of losing, her performance was far more encouraging. Prior to this year’s grass-court season, the British player has no WTA main tournament victories. She currently has four such victories under her belt after defeating Zhu Lin in Nottingham, Petra Martic, and Paula Badosa in Eastbourne; the victory over the fourth-ranked Spaniard was her first top 50 triumph.
Katerina Siniakova and Jodie Burrage are scheduled to face each other in the round of 16 of the 2022 WTA Slovenia Open on Thursday, September 15. The tournament is scheduled to begin on September 12 and end on September 18.
The 2022 WTA Slovenia Open is scheduled to commence on September 12 and go on until September 18 this year. The tournament will have five rounds of play excluding the qualifiers. These are the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals.
