It’s safe to say that Samsonova is in excellent form right now and comes into this match as the rightful favourite. Given that both players are aggressive ball strikers, it appears that this contest will be won by whose mark they find more frequently. Samsonova has a minor advantage due to her stronger serve and more power. The Russian has also triumphed in nine straight bouts, which will undoubtedly give her confidence. Sasnovich is currently having her greatest tennis year in a long time, so she will have just as much confidence in her ability to prevail as Samsonova.

For the first time since 2017, Aliaksandra Sasnovich finished 2021 outside the top 100. But after a standout season, she is now ranked #36 in the world, surpassing Samsonova.
