Wimbledon saw Elena Rybakina victory, but she hasn’t won since. Fair enough, she only competed in one match, which she lost to eventual champion Daria Kasatkina in San Jose. Rybakina won the first set, so it wasn’t a horrible match for her, but when Kasatkina pushed later, Rybakina kind of collapsed. The grand slam winner is a highly intriguing athlete. Her game is characterised by an outstanding serve, great groundstrokes, and fluid movement. She has a terrific track record on hard courts and all of that equipment works well on them. Her lifetime record of 88-49 and her record of 10-6 this year should give her hope going into the US Open. Kasatkina lost badly, but she did admit that she didn’t do any planning beforehand. With more experience, that ought to become second nature. Rybakina will benefit from Bouzkova as practise since she will need to play strategically.

After winning her first championship on a hard court at home in Prague, Marie Bouzkova left for Toronto. This year, the Czech player has put on several remarkable performances that demonstrate her skills to the fullest. She is enjoying herself on the court and her rating and level have increased. The goal of the play style, which combines clever attacking and defending, is to force an error on the part of the opposition. Bouzkova is doing a good job of executing it, especially on quicker grounds. Rybakina has yet to benefit from it as she is 0-2 against her, but Bouzkova is still having a breakthrough year as she is 33-10 overall. Everyone should be paying attention to the second one because she defeated Wimbledon semifinalist Tatjana Maria.
