Danish tennis sensation Holger Rune got off to a fine start in the 2022 US Open after a straight sets victory over Peter Gojowczyk. The score at the end of the match was 6-2, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) in favour of the 28th seed who smashed seven aces in the match and converted three out of 14 break points. Rune also recorded win percentages of 67% and 84% on the first and second serves respectively. The Dane will take on veteran US tennis player John Isner in what promises to be a fine battle between youth and experience.
Home favourite John Isner made short work of Federico Delbonis in the first round of the US Open on Tuesday. The American beat the Argentine 6-3, 6-1, 7-5, hitting 19 aces and converting five out of eight break points. He also recorded 88% and 57% on the first and second serve respectively.
Holger Rune and John Isner are scheduled to face each other on Thursday, September 1 in the second round of the 2022 US Open. The fourth and final Grand Slam of the season began on August 29 and will go on until September 11.
