Mikael Ymer and Tim Van Rijthoven will take on each other in the round of 32 of the 2022 ATP Firenze Open on Tuesday, October 11.
Over the weekend, Mikael Ymer put on a few subpar performances in the ATP Florence qualifying rounds. In QR1, he was down 0-3 in the first set against the 38-year-old Andreas Seppi, and in the last round of qualifying, he was down 0-3 to Borna Gojo. The gifted Swede’s poorest performance of the second half of the season thus far was this. He beat Diego Schwartzman and Jannik Sinner at the Davis Cup, reached the quarterfinals on the indoor hard courts in Metz a few weeks ago, and reached the semifinal of an ATP 500 tournament in Washington two months ago.
Tim Van Rijthoven has won an amazing 21 games this year on indoor hard courts, although none of those victories occurred in the ATP competition’s main draw. He lost in the last qualifying round at home in Rotterdam back in February, and most recently, Holger Rune defeated him in the first round in Sofia after two tiebreakers. The Dutchman qualified for the main tournament in Florence this week without dropping a set, defeating Aziz Dougaz and Gianmarco Ferrari. Earlier this year, the Dutchman played impressive tennis in indoor Challenger events on Italian soil, winning at Forli 7 and reaching the semifinals at Forli 8.
Mikael Ymer and Tim Van Rijthoven are scheduled to face each other in the round of 32 of the 2022 ATP Firenze Open on Monday, October 10. The tournament is scheduled to begin on October 10 and end on October 16.
The ATP Firenze Open will have five rounds of action excluding the qualifiers. These are the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The competition’s main draw is set to commence on October 10, 2022 and conclude on October 16, 2022.
