Albert Ramos Vinolas and Daniil Medvedev will take on each other in the round of 32 of the 2022 ATP Astana Open on Tuesday, October 4.
Since things haven’t really worked out for him for over nine months of the year and he hasn’t been able to find solutions either, Daniil Medvedev undoubtedly can’t wait for the season to end. If he had taken advantage of his opportunities in the third set against Rafael Nadal in the Australian Open title match back in January, this season would have turned out quite differently for him. That crushing loss has had a significant effect thus far. The former world number one won his first championship of the 2022 campaign just two months ago in Los Cabos, and he was unable to successfully defend any of the four championships he won in 2021 at the US Open, Toronto Masters, Mallorca, and Marseille, which marked his career-best season.
Daniil Medvedev, who was the world’s top player for more than three months of the 2022 season, was defeated in the first round by Albert Ramos Vinolas, who has won as many titles on the main tour this year. The seasoned Spaniard had a solid season after winning the championship in Cordoba during his second match of the year and posting four semifinal finishes on his favourite clay in the months that followed. In an effort to snap an eight-match losing streak on the surface and get his first victory since Paris Masters in 2018, the former world No. 17 will compete in an indoor hardcourt event for the first time since Paris Masters in 2021.
Albert Ramos Vinolas and Daniil Medvedev are scheduled to face each other in the round of 32 of the 2022 ATP Astana Open on Tuesday, October 4. The tournament is scheduled to begin on October 3 and end on October 9.
The ATP Astana Open 2022 will feature five rounds of competition apart from the qualifying matches. These are the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-final, semi-final and final. The tournament is scheduled to start on Monday, October 3 and conclude on Sunday, October 9.
