British tennis player Emma Raducanu advanced to the second round of Wimbledon on Monday as she beat Alison Van Uytvanck in her first match. The score at the end of the match was 6-4, 6-4 in favour of the British teenager. Raducanu hit four aces in the match whereas her opponent scored three. She had a slightly higher win percentage of 63% in the first serve and on the second, she had 61%. Raducanu won four out of 12 break points. She also won eight service games, two more than Van Uytvanck’s six.
French tennis Caroline Garcia defeated wildcard Yuriko Miyazaki to move to the second round at Wimbledon. The score was 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (4). The former No. 4 in the world extended her winning streak to six games on Saturday, when she defeated Bianca Andreescu to capture the Bad Homburg title. Garcia will face Raducanu in the second round at Wimbledon and it could be quite an interesting affair.
Raducanu and Garcia are scheduled to face each other on Wednesday, June 29 in the second round of the 2022 Championships. The timing of the match has not been decided yet. The Championships is scheduled to begin on June 27 and go on until July 10. There were a number of exciting matches in the first round as the likes of Swiatek, Badosa, Williams, Gauff, Krejcikova and others will be in action.
