Jan-Lennard Struff is a professional tennis player from Germany. In August 2020, he reached his career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 29. In October 2018, he reached a career high of world No. 21 in doubles. He has won three ATP doubles titles and reached one ATP singles final. Struff reached the semifinals of the ATP Tour for the first time in Marseille, Munich, and Metz. For the first time in his career, he reached the top 50 in the ATP rankings, and he finished the year in the top 100 for the first time, at World No. 59. In the first round of the Davis Cup, he made his debut for Germany against France. In the fifth set, the German lost the first rubber to Gilles Simon 8–10, and his team lost the tie 2–3. After defeating world No. 3 Stan Wawrinka and saving a match point, Struff advanced to the third round of the Paris Masters as a qualifier, his best showing at the Masters 1000 level thus far.

Struff and Ben McLachlan advanced to the semifinals of the Australian Open men's doubles, including a win over No. 1 seeds ukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo. Struff defeated Marin Cilic in Tokyo and faced Denis Shapovalov in the quarterfinals, where he had a match point in the second set. In the same tournament, he won his first career doubles title, partnering with McLachlan once more. In the third round of the Indian Wells Masters, Struff upset compatriot and World No. 3 Alexander Zverev. He had his best Grand Slam result by reaching the fourth round of the French Open, where he lost to top seed Novak Djokovic in straight sets.

He had his best ATP Masters 1000 performance at the 2020 Western & Southern Open in New York, where he advanced to the quarterfinals before losing to eventual champion and World No. 1 Novak Djokovic. As a result, he broke into the top 30 for the first time in his career, reaching a career high of World No. 29 in singles on August 31, 2020. Struff began his season in February with the 2021 ATP Cup, where he helped Germany reach the semifinals with Alexander Zverev, Kevin Krawietz, and Andreas Mies.

Struff reached his first ATP final at the 2021 BMW Open in Munich, defeating Filip Krajinovic in the quarterfinals and Ilya Ivashka in the semifinals after a three-hour match. Since reaching the semifinals in 2014, this was his best performance in this tournament (loss to Fabio Fognini). He was defeated in straight sets by Nikoloz Basilashvili. Struff defeated Andrey Rublev, the seventh seed, in five sets at the 2021 French Open. He advanced to the fourth round after straight-set victories over Facundo Bagnis and Carlos Alcaraz.
