Dusan Lajovic has been playing in the ATP professional tournaments for like a few months now and he still hasn’t been able to make it out to the later stages of any of the competitions. At the Cordoba Open, he was shown the exit door by Ramos-Vinolas in the round of 16 stage, and at the Argentina Open, he made it to the quarter-finals finally losing to the eventual champion Alcaraz. He shocked the entire world by lifting the Srpska Open beating Rublev in the final and also won the Maspalomas Challenger last year beating the likes of Steven Diez, Llamas Ruiz, Lopez Morillo, Andreev, and Chepelev. In the ongoing Madrid Open, he beat Kubler in the first-round matchup by 3-6, 3-6, and then went on to beat Auger-Aliassime in the next round by 2-6, 6-3, 6-7.
Jan-Lennard Struff is not a name that we hear very often in the ATP 1000 tournaments but he has been doing well in the last few months due to which he has earned his way at the Madrid Open. He made it to the finals of the Phoenix Challenger, but unfortunately, he lost to Nuno Borges after beating Halys, Berrettini, Huesler, Monfils, and Riedi on the way. But he completed the job this time at the Madrid Challenger lifting the trophy after beating the likes of Cachin, Passaro, Perez Contri, Damas, and Billy Harris on the way. In the ongoing Madrid Open, he beat Sonego in the first-round matchup by 6-3, 6-1, and then went on to beat Shelton in the next round by 4-6, 7-6, 7-5.
