However, Konjuh appeared to have suffered as a result, and Parrizas Diaz was able to win the final set with ease. This comes after Parrizas Diaz lost her previous three games, which may be relieving but also reveals how bad her form has been.
Giorgi’s season has gotten off to a slow start, but she did well to get things going in Merida with a victory. The world number 68 defeated Mayar Sherif in straight sets to go to the second round, earning her fourth victory of the year. Giorgi won in one hour and 18 minutes, 6-4, 6-2. Giorgi, who lost in the second round of Linz after making it to the third round of the Australian Open, played well in the opening set, facing no break points and breaking her opponent’s serve just once. In the second set, both players dropped their serves in quick succession early on, but Camila Giorgi went on a four-game winning streak to take the match.
