Lorenzo Musetti and Bernabe Zapata Miralles will face each other in the round of 16 of the 2022 ATP Firenze Open October 13.
Lorenzo Musetti, the local favourite from his home city, is seeded third and receives a first-round bye in Florence. He enjoyed this luxury three times this year on the main tour, and two of those campaigns were lost to Richard Gasquet in Winston-Salem and Sebastian Korda in Metz last month in the second round. With only four victories on indoor hard courts this year, the former Boys’ Australian Open winner managed to reach the first level quarterfinal and semifinal. He advanced farther in Sofia (SF) a few weeks back after defeating Mikael Ymer and Hubert Hurkacz en route to the quarterfinal in Rotterdam’s 500 in February.
In the first round of the ATP Florence, Bernabe Zapata Miralles upset Lorenzo Sonego (ITA), the winner of the ATP Metz (IH) tournament from a month ago, in straight sets. In both sets, he took an early lead and never seemed in danger, winning 6-4 6-4. With this victory in Florence, the Spaniard’s career-best season on the main tour simply got better. Before this, he had never triumphed in a main-draw match at this calibre on indoor hard courts. Currently, he needs one more victory to reach his second quarterfinal in an ATP tournament (after Umag 2022) and first on a surface other than clay.
Lorenzo Musetti and Bernabe Zapata Miralles are scheduled to face each other in the second round of the 2022 ATP Firenze Open on Thursday, October 13. The tournament is scheduled to begin on October 10 and end on October 16.
The ATP Firenze Open 2022 will have five rounds of action excluding the qualifiers. These are the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The competition’s main draw is set to commence on October 10, 2022 and conclude on October 16, 2022.
