Alexander Bublik and Corentin Moutet will face each other in the round of 16 of the 2022 ATP Firenze Open October 13.
Alexander Bublik defeated Cristian Garin in straight sets in the opening round of the ATP Florence tournament after managing to maintain focus the entire match. In two sets, he served 20 aces and held three breakpoints, 7-5 6-2. Although he delivered a bagel in the first round, 6-0 4-6 6-3, his last four victories on the main tour in completed matches came in three sets. Last week, he even battled out a three-setter with Tallon Griekspoor.
In order to get to the second round in Florence, Corentin Moutet defeated Italian qualifier Flavio Cobolli in three sets. It was a vintage Moutet performance as he dropped the first set after leading by a break, came back to win the second set after falling behind by a break, and then held off several match points before trading three breaks of serve in the final, 4-6 7-5 6-4. After two discouraging three-set losses to Adrian Andreev in his past two matches at the Genoa Challenger and Orleans Challenger, the brilliant but inconsistent Frenchman would be relieved to have prevailed in a three-setter this week.
Alexander Bublik and Corentin Moutet are scheduled to face each other in the second round of the 2022 ATP Firenze Open on Thursday, October 13. The tournament is scheduled to begin on October 10 and end on October 16.
