This season, the Scot won 18 of the 28 games he played, making it to two finals. He lost against Aslan Karatsev in the first of these matches at the Sydney International. At the BOSS Open in Stuttgart, where he advanced to the championship match without dropping a set, Andy Murray reached his second season final. The 35-year-old defeated Nick Kyrgios and Stefanos Tsitsipas before taking on Matteo Berrettini in the championship match. The Italian won the first set 6-4 before Murray won the second set 7-5 to even the score. The Scotsman was injured during the final and lost 3-6. He had to drop out of the Queen’s Club Championships as a result. At Wimbledon, he made a comeback and advanced to the second round before falling to John Isner in four sets. Murray beat Sam Querrey by a score of 6-2, 6-0 to go to the second round of the Newport Hall of Fame Open, where he is seeded sixth.

In the men’s doubles competition this year, Max Purcell and fellow countryman Matthew Ebden won the Wimbledon championship. But out of four main-draw singles matches in 2022, his victory over Adrian Mannarino in Newport by scores of 6-3, 1-6, and 7-5 was the first. This will be the first time when Purcell and Murray will face each other and it will be thrilling match to watch.

Andy Murray and Max Purcell will take on each other on Wednesday, July 13 in the round of 16 of the 2022 ATP Hall of Fame Open. The competition is scheduled to commence on July 11 and conclude on July 17 this year.
