Alexander Bublik has thus far had a good grass season. At Queen’s Club and Stuttgart, he advanced to the second round before falling to Marin Cilic and Andy Murray, respectively. He advanced to the quarterfinals at Eastbourne with victories over Frances Tiafoe and John Millman, but fell to Taylor Fritz. Marton Fucsovics, a 2021 quarterfinalist, was upset by Bublik in the first round of Wimbledon. He succeeded it by defeating Dusan Lajovic in the subsequent round. Once more, he faced up against Tiafoe. However, the American defeated Bublik this time, ending his All England Club season by defeating him in four sets. Bublik previously made it to the title round in Newport in 2019. He will strive to outperform that outcome this time.

Jack Sock participated in a few Challenger events as practice for Wimbledon. He advanced to Nottingham’s semifinals but fell short to Dan Evans. The American then advanced to the Ilkley final where she was defeated by Zizou Bergs in three sets. Sock won every match he played in to go to the Wimbledon main event. In the opening round, he triumphed over Bernabe Zapata Miralles before defeating Maxime Cressy. In the third round, he fought Jason Kubler, but he lost in five sets. Radu Albot was upset by Sock 6-1, 7-6(2) to begin his Newport campaign. Last time Sock defeated Bublik when they faced each other in US open 2021 in five sets.
