Although Alex Molcan prefers playing on hard courts and doesn’t play much on grass, a third-round Wimbledon appearance this year would have made him happy. Particularly considering that it featured a victory over Marcos Giron in the second round. It also followed two outstanding performances by Molcan on clay. He advanced to the final of the Marrakesh Open after defeating players like Felix Auger-Aliassime, Botic van de Zandschulp, and Laslo Djere. He then made another final appearance in Lyon, where he had previously beaten Alex de Minaur and Karen Khachanov. A guy who hasn’t played much at the highest level should not present too many challenges for Molcan.
Being only 18 years old, Marko Topo has only participated in two matches in his career, which highlights his lack of experience at the highest level. Topo has participated in a few Futures and Challenger events, but despite not having achieved any success at that level, he performed well to advance to the main draw of his third ATP level tournament in Hamburg. Topo has previously competed at the highest level in Belgrade the previous year and the Munich Open earlier this year. Can he make it third time count?

The 2022 Hamburg European Open will have five rounds of play both for the ATP and WTA competitors. These are the first round, second round, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The tournament is scheduled to be held from July 18 to July 24, but the qualifiers will commence from July 16 for both the men’s and women’s categories.
