In the opening match of the 2022 ATP Hamburg Open on Monday, the eighth-seeded Dane Holger Rune faces the eighth-seeded Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor.

In the months of July and June, Holger Rune is winless. Fair enough, he only competed in one match in July, which occurred last week in Bastad, where Marc Huesler emerged victorious. On May 30th, he defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas at Roland Garros to earn his final victory. He has since participated in five matches, all of which he has lost. He was 0-3 on grass, which is not surprising, but his comeback to clay and lackluster performance have been fairly intriguing. Although Rune rates clay as his greatest and favourite surface, Bastad might have been an outlier. In Hamburg, he will have the chance to do so against a competitive foe he ought to defeat in the first round. Excellent at attacking tennis, Rune occasionally fails to make it happen. He has clearly been in a funk lately, but he will take what he can from this.
Tallon Griekspoor will arrive in Hamburg after spending a very productive week playing tennis on clay in Amersfoort. Clay is a surface that the Dutch are familiar with because it has historically been his best. He performed admirably on it this past season, and he will relish the chance to put himself to the test in Hamburg. Due to the demanding week at home in Amersfoort, fatigue may be a serious issue for him, but if he can rapidly recover, he’ll give it his all. Given that the Danish player is not currently performing well, the draw was quite kind to Rune. The Dutch player Griekspoor will undoubtedly have an opportunity, but how well he takes it is entirely up to him.
Holger Rune and Tallon Griekspoor will take on each other on Monday, July 18 in the first round of the 2022 ATP Hamburg European open. The competition is scheduled to commence on July 18 and conclude on July 24 this year.

The 2022 Hamburg European Open will have five rounds of play both for the ATP and WTA competitors. These are the first round, second round, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The tournament is scheduled to be held from July 18 to July 24, but the qualifiers will commence from July 16 for both the men’s and women’s categories.
