Pedro Martinez v Carlos Taberner will take on each other on Monday, July 18 in the first round of the 2022 Swiss open Gstaad.
The Swiss Open currently sponsored by J. Safra Sarasin and called the J. Safra Sarasin Swiss Open Gstaad and originally known as the Swiss International Championships is a tennis tournament held in Gstaad, Switzerland. Held since 1898, the tournament is played on outdoor clay courts. Between 1970 and 1989 it was an event of the Grand Prix tennis circuit and is now a part of the ATP Tour schedule as an ATP Tour 250 series event. The first edition of the tournament was played in 1915 at the Gstaad Palace Hotel and was organized in collaboration with the Lawn Tennis Club (LTC) Gstaad.
Pedro Martinez, who reached the final of the Kitzbuhel Open last year, earned his first ATP victory in February, defeating Argentine Sebastian Baez in Santiago to win the Chile Open. He went on to reach the third round in Miami, but his results subsequently have been generally poor. Carlos Taberner rose to prominence on the junior tours by competing in clay court competitions. In March, he won his fifth Challenger championship. That form has yet to convert to the senior tour, and in six attempts, he has never beaten a top 10 player.
Pedro Martinez v Carlos Taberner will take on each other on Monday, July 18 in the first round of the 2022 Swiss open Gstaad. The competition is scheduled to commence on July 17 and conclude on July 23 this year.
