Tsitsipas fought valiantly in the third round but Kyrgios edged out a stunning 6-7 (2-7), 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 (9-7) victory.
It took him quite a while but Nick Kyrgios seems to have finally found his for back, recording an outstanding victory against fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in what was a nail-biter of a contest. The fourth seed fought valiantly but Kyrgios edged out a stunning 6-7 (2-7), 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 (9-7) victory. The Aussie will go up against Brandon Nakashima in the round of 16 of the 2022 Wimbledon Championships. Against Tsitsipas, Kyrgios smashed 14 aces and won two out of 14 break points. He also managed to win 22 service games in the process.
Brandon Nakashima himself has been in fine form at The Championships this season, beating 13th seed Denis Shapovalov in the second round. The American had to overcome a Daniel Galan in the third round and he came out with flying colours. The score-line at the end of the match was 6-4, 6-4, 6-1 in Nakashima’s favour. A win against Kyrgios in the next round would certainly be a massive result for the young American.
Kyrgios and Nakashima are scheduled to face each other on Monday, July 4 in the round of 16 of the 2022 Championships. The timing of the match has not been decided yet. The Championships is scheduled to begin on June 27 and go on until July 10. There were a number of exciting matches on July 4 as the likes of Nadal, Kyrgios, Fritz and de Minaur and others will be in action.
