On Wednesday, an interesting second-round matchup between Tommy Paul and Kwon Soon-woo will take place at the 2022 Atlanta Open.
The fifth seed, Tommy Paul, plays on his preferred hardcourt for the first time since losing to Nick Kyrgios in the second round at Houston. The American had a strong opening match at the US Open, easily defeating fellow countryman Jack Sock. He won 6-1, 6-1, dropping just two games en route to his success. With the exception of his difficulties on the European clay, the American teenager has played consistently well this season. In the three American hardcourt competitions he entered this year in Delray Beach (SF), Indian Wells (R3), and Miami, he has recorded at least two victories (R3).
The Korean player, on the other hand, had to work hard to get his first victory since early February on the surface. Soonwoo Kwon, who most recently forced Novak Djokovic to play four sets at Wimbledon, defeated Marcos Giron, an American, 7-6(3), 4-6, 7-5. Kwon undoubtedly has the tools necessary to change the outcome of the match, despite not having the most successful season on the tour.
Soonwoo Kwon and Tommy Paul will take on each other on Wednesday July 27 in the second round of the 2022 Atlanta open. The competition is scheduled to commence on July 25 and conclude on July 31 this year.
