On Monday, Sebastian Korda of the United States takes on Facundo Bagnis of Argentina in the opening round of the 2022 US Open.
Korda’s season has been up and down, with some amazing victories and some unfavourable outcomes. His situation was not helped by a few injuries, but he is aiming for a proper breakout now to advance to the second week. With a score of 22-16, it doesn’t seem so bad, but 12-8 may have been better if several things had gone his way. After finishing the grass season and recovering from shin injuries, Sebastian Korda lost to Mikael Ymer in the Washington quarterfinals. It hasn’t been so wonderful because John Isner in Cincinnati proved to be better. The rival is a respectable one, and Bagnis actually defeated him earlier at the US Open. For Korda, the drive shouldn’t be lacking, and it may be a solid launch. His confidence will grow with each victory, and with his aggressive baseline playstyle, confidence is essential. Korda, who tends to have losing streaks, loves to win.
To enter the US Open main draw, Facundo Bagnis had to compete in the qualifying, and he succeeded. Even while his victories weren’t particularly stunning, they were still a vast improvement over his performance on hard courts. Bagnis, who excels on clay, put in a lot of effort to become into the reliable hard-court player he is now. His surface record is still dismal (37-52) but he can undoubtedly compete with some lower-ranked players. Korda, unfortunately, is not one of them. On the other hand, if Korda happens to catch one of those matches where he is unable to strike the court, his streakiness could work against him. Bagnis will have a chance if that occurs because he is skilled at keeping the ball in play. With a 28-22 record overall and 7-7 on hard, he has had a successful year thus far. He improved his hard court record this week with three victories, and he’s in good shape going into a crucial match.
Sebastian Korda and Facundo Bagnis are scheduled to face one another in the first round match of the US Open 2022 on Monday, August 29. The 2022 US Open is all set to begin from August 29 till September 11.
