On Saturday, the semifinal of the 2022 WTA Cincinnati Open will feature World No. 24 Madison Keys of the United States taking on World No. 28 Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic.

World No. 24 Madison Keys made a strong comeback this year after two underwhelming seasons, and the American is still developing. With a victory against Elena Rybakina in straight sets in the quarterfinal on Friday, she advanced to her third semifinal of the year in Cincinnati. Keys who has excelled in the competition, Keys held on to win the one hour and 30 minute contest 6-2, 6-4. On Thursday, Keys defeated first seed Iga Swiatek 6-3, 6-4 in the Round of 16. The 27-year-old hasn’t dropped a set this week, and in the first two rounds of the tournament, she defeated Yulia Putintseva and Jelena Ostapenko in straight sets. At the beginning of the season, Keys won her sixth WTA championship by winning in Adelaide-2. Additionally, she made it to the Australian Open semifinals for the second time in her career.

After easily defeating Ajla Tomljanovi in Friday’s quarterfinal, Petra Kvitova advanced to a third semifinal in Cincinnati. The World No. 28 was unbeatable in the opening set but fell apart early in the second. She swiftly responded though, winning 6-2, 6-3, and taking the match by storm. Kvitova defeated the Australian on Friday by serving 12 aces, saving six of eight break points, and converting five of six opportunities. The Eastbourne championship was won this year by the Czech left-hander, who has 29 victories in her professional career. She will try to maintain her form in the semifinals as a former No. 2.

Madison Keys and Petra Kvitova are scheduled to face one another in the semifinal of the 2022 Cincinnati Open on Saturday, August 20. The tournament is scheduled to run from August 14 till August 21.

The 2022 Cincinnati Open will see six rounds of action excluding the qualifiers. These include the round of 64, round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final for both men’s and women’s. The tournament is scheduled to commence on August 14 and conclude on August 21 this year.
