Mikael Ymer put on a super-dominant display to defeat Van Rijthoven easily, 6-1 6-2. Considering how poorly he fared in the qualifying rounds over the weekend, this was by far his greatest performance of the season. The former world #14 entered the 2022 season with high hopes and expectations following a tremendously successful 2021 campaign. He also got off to a great start by capturing the title in Sydney. However, things deteriorated in the ensuing months, and for the duration of the year, he has been playing without belief or confidence.
