Ons Jabeur and Aryna Sabalenka will begin their WTA Finals campaign against each other in a thrilling round-robin match in Fort Worth. Jabuer, the top seed in the Nancy Richey group, has only played one tournament since reaching the US Open final, where she was defeated by Iga Swiatek. The Tunisian reached the quarterfinals of her home event in Tunisia before falling to Claire Liu. Jabuer’s loss was his 15th of the season, with 46 wins.

Sabalenka, meanwhile, has lost in the first round at both of her stops since New York, falling to Donna Vekic in the quarterfinals of San Diego and Liudmila Samsonova in the first round of Guadalajara. The Belarsuian, who will compete in her second WTA Finals in a row, will be hoping to start fresh in Fort Worth. Aryna Sabaklenka leads Ons Jabeur in their current head-to-head by a 2-1 margin.

Format

The eight players at the WTA Finals 2022 have been divided into two groups, these are the Tracy Austin Group and the Nancy Richey Group. Each player will play one match against everyone in their group and the top two from each will make it through to the semi-finals. The top finisher of one group will face the second finisher of the other. The winner of those two matches will then meet in the final to decide who will win the 2022 WTA Finals crown.
