As the 2022 WTA tennis season comes to its close, fans will shift their attention to the last big tournament on the calendar for the women’s sport. The 2022 WTA Finals, played at Fort Worth in the United States will commence on October 31 and go on till October 7 this year. Eight of the best women’s players in world tennis today will participate in the event, making it one that promises high octane tennis action right from the start. There is no surprise that world no. 1 and top seed Iga Swiatek is the strongest favourite for the title. However, she will have her work cut out for her.
Among the other players in the tournament are the likes of Ons Jabeur, Coco Gauff, Caroline Garcia and Maria Sakkari, all of who are playing at a very high level at the moment and have a good chance securing the coveted title at Fort Worth. The format of the tournament is different from the usual tennis competitions that go on all year round.
The eight players at the WTA Finals 2022 have been divided into two groups, these are the Tracy Austin Group and the Nancy Richey Group. Each player will play one match against everyone in their group and the top two from each will make it through to the semi-finals. The top finisher of one group will face the second finisher of the other. The winner of those two matches will then meet in the final to decide who will win the 2022 WTA Finals crown.

The group stage action of the 2022 WTA Finals will commence on October 31 and end on November 5. The semi-finals will be played on November 6 and the final on November 7.

At the year-end finals, the total prize pool is USD 5,000,000, and a player can win up to USDÂ 1.68 million if she wins all of her matches. Each woman will receive a USD 110,000 participation fee and an additional USD 110,000 for each victory during the round-robin stage. A bonus of USDÂ 30,000 will be awarded for qualifying for the semifinals. A player will receive an additional USD 420,000 for winning their semifinal, and the tournament winner will receive an additional USD 820,000.
