Ons Jabeur will take on Tatjana Maria in the 2022 Wimbledon Championships semifinal match on Thursday.
Tatjana Maria extended her Cinderella run by defeating fellow Countrywoman Jule Niemeier in three sets in the second quarterfinal match in the bottom half of the women’s singles draw. Niemeier outscored her rival three to one to win the set 6-4. By winning 71 percent of the points off Niemeier’s second serve and 12 of the 15 times she went for the net, she won the second set 6-2. Niemeier was serving at a 5-3 advantage when she lost focus, handing her opponent three break points. To tie the score, Maria scored in the second. Niemeier erred on a serve and volley when serving to stay in the game at 6-5, 15-40 down, bringing Maria to her maiden Major semifinal in her 46th Grand Slam attempt.
Ons Jabeur lost a set for the first time in the competition when she faced Marie Bouzkova in the quarterfinals.
